Oh hi, Creative
The Creative’s Retreat in Ojai, CA is a chance for creative spirits and business owners to step away from the daily need to output and give ourselves the permission to rest. As a freelance photographer, I know that I feel the most inspired when I’m well rested - though I rarely allow myself to do that. Even more rarely do I ever let myself rest and pursue an interest that doesn’t have to do with photography. So that gets us to why I’m setting aside three days at the beginning of the year to do just that. We can rest, we can read, we can go walk among the oak and olive trees, we can watercolor. This retreat’s intention is to set aside the time to do the thing we feel guilty setting aside the time to do. It’s your permission slip.

What’s Included
Your Hosts
Jenna Gilmer
Retreat organizer. I’m your main contact for everything retreat related. I hosted this retreat for the first time this year (2025) and it feels like something that is so needed in our community that I plan on making it a yearly ritual. I’m a photographer but I also love gardening, reading, cooking, journaling, sewing and so many other things that it feels like I never have enough time for. This retreat is my way of making that time.
Sara Szunyogh
Sara is our yoga, meditation and chef superstar. We had her as a yoga instructor for our first retreat and she knocked it out of the park so I had to get her back using her full range of skills this time. I first took a yoga class of hers back in 2018 and she got me hooked on practicing regularly. She brings such an honest and real energy to everything she does and I couldn’t be more excited to have her on board with us.
